NaNoWriMo

Hi, remember me?

Yeah, once upon a time I thought I was going to be doing this every single day. Luckily for me, I have been writing every day. Unlucky (maybe?) for you, I just haven't been writing here.

I've been completing this contest, called National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo) for the past 18 days. Basically the goal is to write 50,000 words of a first draft of a novel in 30 days; from the 1st of November to the 30th of November. You don't really win anything when you complete this goal, just a pat on the back, bragging rights, and a free manuscript of your book through a website called CreateSpace.

*Shrug*

For me, it's more about the deadline. It's an incentive to get my creative juices going. It forces me to write, which is good. Other wise, I'd let things like homework, and television and sleep get in the way of what's really important. I'm actually trying to go for 75 thousand words becuase last year I finished early too, and because--let's be honest--50k words almost never makes a satisfactory novel.

It's funny, I actually planned to do this big thing where I was going to introduce you to my characters, and like,  post some of the book as I was writing it on here, but... I'm almost done with the contest (I have 46,248 words out of 50,000 right now) sooooo I guess you'll just have to visit this.

p.s. Don't be surprised if you don't hear from me for a while. I won't be posting until the first draft is completely written. No more distractions for Alexa!
